'Cheat' Viewers Baffled After Series Finale Leaves Unanswered Questions

ITV's psychological thriller Cheat came to a dramatic end last night, but many viewers have left with unanswered questions.

The four-part series, starring Katherine Kelly and Molly Windsor, follows the turbulent relationship between a university lecturer and her student after she's accused of cheating on her dissertation.

A flashforward in the first episode revealed how one of them would be arrested for the death of Dr Leah Dale's husband, Adam Dale, but it's not until the final episode we find out what really happened.

However, there were some scenes in the fourth installment that left viewers with some loose ends that needed to be tied up.

While it was revealed it was Rose who was behind bars in the final episode, viewers were confused to learn she had only been sentenced to two years.

Although Rose claimed she had stabbed Adam in self-defence because he was choking her, so there's a chance she could've been handed a reduced sentence.

But as they fast forward two years to her release, one viewer questioned: "So she committed a murder and got let out after two years!?"

Another added: "Wait Rose only got two years for murder?"

Meanwhile, others were desperate to know whether Rose's dad and his dog were dead after she sent her besotted friend Ben to find him.

In a devastating final scene, the dog appeared to be killed, and while viewers were horrified - this was never confirmed.

However, the biggest question on everyone's lips seemed to be did Rose actually cheat in her dissertation - given the entire show was based on it.

Fans were left confused as it was never confirmed whether Dr Leah's intuition was right.
