Actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul are set to reprise their iconic roles for a Breaking Bad film, according to reports.

Website Revenge of the Fans reports that Cranston, 62, and Paul, 39, will return for the Vince Gilligan-helmed film, which began filming in Albuquerque in November 2018.

Other cast members reportedly attached to the film project, which has the working title Greenbrier, include Jonathan Banks (Mike), Jesse Plemons (Todd), Charles Baker (Skinny Pete), Matt Jones (Badger), Robert Forster (Ed, aka The Disappearer), Tess Harper (Mrs. Pinkman), and Kevin Rankin (Kenny).

Discussing the prospect of a movie, Cranston earlier admitted that he was open to returning.

"If Vince Gilligan asked me to do it, sure, absolutely. He's a genius," Cranston said on The Dan Patrick Show. "It's a great story, and there's a lot of people who felt that they wanted to see some sort of completion to some of these storylines that were left open."

And Aaron Paul has spoken about how easy he'd find jumping back into his Jesse Pinkman character.

"[It] may be kind of easy and seamless to jump back into [playing Jesse] because we live and breathe all of our characters that we play, and I played this guy for seven years," he told the Shoot This Now podcast. "I really know him. It'd be fun to put back on those shoes."

The Albuquerque Journal has reported that the two-hour feature film will "track the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom" and that Jesse Pinkman (played by Aaron Paul) will be the "kidnapped man" in question.

Crime drama Breaking Bad - about struggling chemistry teacher Walter White who turns to a life of crime by selling crystal meth - ran for five seasons from 2008 to 2013 and is widely recognised as one of the greatest TV series of all time.

The show won 16 Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes and inspired a spin-off series, Better Call Saul.

No release date for the feature film has yet been announced.
