Netflix has announced that the latest series of Black Mirror will include a choose-your-own adventure episode, where viewers can change the outcome of the episode.

The streaming service is developing a new way to watch television by allowing the viewers to take control and select what they would like to see happen in the next episode.

The series often explores the link between humans and technology so this latest announcement isn't that much of a surprise.

The fifth series is expected to be released in December this year, so we won't have to wait long to create our own personalised episodes.

However, this isn't the first time Netflix has used the choose-your-own adventure approach, they recently created a TV show for children called Puss in Book.

Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker spoke in late 2017 about his attempts to make season three's 'Playtest' interactive.

He said: "We could keep one on an infinite loop! You could do that on Netflix - make one a Groundhog Day that literally never stops. And disable the 'back' button for viewers.

"That's something to think about. We did talk to some of the tech people about things we could do.

"When we were doing 'Playtest,' the video game episode, I wanted to do it in nightmare mode, where after you watched it once, if you watched it again it was different."

While you're waiting for the latest series to drop, you could binge watch Channel 4's new reality show, The Circle, which has been compared to Black Mirror's 'Nosedive' episode.

The Circle follows a group of contestants who all move into separate apartments within the same building as they compete in the ultimate popularity contest.

But the catch is that the contests never actually meet in person - they simply communicate through a simulated social media platform which allows them to build whatever persona they like.

Players must try and win the affections of their competitors and avoid being 'blocked' to be in with the chance of winning £50,000.

If a player does get blocked, then the other players will discover whether that person was really who they said they were, or whether they were a catfish.
