Beyoncé Will Sing ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight?’ On ‘The Lion King’ Soundtrack

Beyoncé and co-star Donald Glover will sing the classic Elton John song 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight?' in Disney's upcoming remake of The Lion King, it has been confirmed.

The track, with lyrics from Tim Rice, was penned for the original 1994 animated film and has become one of the most beloved cinematic songs of all time.

Speaking on chat show Watch What Happens Live, comedian and actor Billy Eichner - who will play the meerkat Timon - confirmed the news about that the 'Lemonade' songstress.

"I play Timon, and Timon and Pumbaa start singing 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight?' and then it segues into Beyoncé and Donald Glover singing it," he said.

When fellow WWHL guest Sarah Paulson asked if Eichner would have a joint recording session with Beyoncé, he said: "No, probably not."

Grammy-winning Beyoncé is playing Nala in the upcoming 2019 remake of The Lion King while Donald Glover, a rapper and star of self-written show Atlanta, will play Simba.

Also starring in the film is James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, John Kani as Rafiki, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, John Oliver as Zazu, Erica André as Azizi, Florence Kasumba as Shenzi and Keegan-Michael Key as Kamari.

Produced by Walt Disney Pictures and directed by The Jungle Book's Jon Favreau, The Lion King remake will be a photorealistic computer animated movie. Director Jon said of his team: "It is a director's dream to assemble a talented team like this to bring this classic story to life."

'Can You Feel The Love Tonight?' won the 1994 Academy Award for Best Original Song, with vocals from Toto's Joseph Williams and singer Sally Dworsky.

A teaser trailer for the upcoming movie was aired during the NFL's Thanksgiving primetime last year.

The Lion King is scheduled to be released on Friday, 19th July 2019.
