Dig out your crimping irons, oversized blazer and double denim, Beverly Hills 90210 is back (again), but this time the original nineties cast is back on board - and it's served with a twist.

"It's confirmed," Tori Spelling told Access Live last week, but the OG-cast actress who played Donna Martin, didn't realise the news hadn't yet been made public. "Did I just confirm something that wasn't known?" Spelling asked when the interviewer's reaction was a mix of shock and celebration.

But while no lens is filtered enough for the cast to play their nineties characters heres where the twist comes in - and it's pretty complicated.

She explained to Entertainment Tonight that almost the entire original cast will play themselves in a fictional behind-the-scenes reboot.

But fans will still get to see them play their original characters in the scenes within the scenes. So meta.

Aside from Tori, other original cast members include Jennie Garth (who plays Kelly Taylor), Jason Priestley (Brandon Walsh), Ian Ziering (Steve Sanders), Brian Austin Green (David Silver), and Gabrielle Carteris (Andrea Zuckerman). Luke Perry (who played Dylan McKay) will do as many episodes as he can do, due to his Riverdale filming commitments.

According to Tori, Shannen Doherty (who played Brenda Walsh) is yet to be confirmed for the show as she is recovering from her battle with breast cancer.

"We would love to have her on. ...There is no status right now," Spelling explained.

If you weren't a fan/alive the first time around, Beverly Hills, 90210, which ran from 1990-2000, was created by Darren Star - the man behind Sex and the City and followed the lives of a group of ridiculously good looking friends with even better hair trying to survive life, high school and adulthood. Seriously relatable, you guys.

There've been several overlapping spin offs and reboots.

First up the 1992 sexy spin-off show and primetime soap Melrose Place, which followed the love lives of beautiful, well-dressed slightly older people in an LA apartment complex. It was rebooted in 2009.

Models Inc, was a prime time soap opera following the LA modelling agency of a Melrose Place character's mother.

90210 was a modern reboot with new characters and OG Kelly Taylor making appearances as a school guidance counsellor.

Way back in March 2018, Tori teased that a Beverly Hills reboot could be happening in an Instagram post of her at CBS Studios captioned: "#back2work great creative day yesterday with my #partnerincrime @jenniegarth #90210vibes #donnaandkellyforver #besties."

There are no more details for now but watch this space and note to self: don't tell Tori Spelling any of your secrets.
