Another Les Misérables Remake Is In The Works Starring Lily Collins

Fans of Les Misérables rejoice! Another brand new remake is officially in the works, and this time it will star Lily Collins as the leading lady.

BBC One just revealed that it is replicating the musical's stage success with a six-part drama, and there is already a trailer for it to add to all the excitement.

However, you might be disappointed if you're hoping for new music...

Deadline reports that the BBC's version of Les Mis won't actually feature any songs like the films and musicals which have come before it - Hugh Jackman or Anne Hathaway belted their hearts out during the flick, so things could be pretty different.

Instead, the BBC's series will solely focus on the plot of the story by Victor Hugo, with the miniseries being the centrepiece of the Beeb's Christmas schedule.

Lily will be portraying Fantine, Dominic West of The Affair fame will star as Jean Valjean, and David Oyelowo will play antagonist Javert.

Adeel Akhtar and Olivia Colman will be joining the star-studded line-up as Monsieur and Madame Thénardier, as well as Ellie Bamber as Cosette, Josh O'Connor as Marius, and Erin Kellyman as Eponine.

The screenplay has been written by Andrew Davies, who also wrote the English version of House of Cards.

"This is such an intense and gut-wrenching story," Les Mis screenwriter Andrew explained earlier this year.

He continued: "I am delighted that this esteemed ensemble of actors will be bringing it to life."

And speaking of her own new gig, Lily said: "I'm so thrilled to be playing Fantine.

"Andrew's wonderful dramatisation opens up the character in fresh ways that I've never seen before in previous adaptations."

The new Les Misérables adaptation is expected to hit BBC One screens this Christmas, although an exact date is yet to be confirmed.
