Some hilarious footage of Strictly Come Dancing star Alexandra Burke has just surfaced, and safe to say, it'll have you in stitches.

Appearing on Daybreak back in 2012, the singer sat down to discuss her new single, 'Elephant'.

However, it wasn't long before things took an awkward turn, as Alexandra appeared to suggest she'd come up with a famous saying...

She told the hosts: "It's a metaphor. I was going through a situation last year when i was dating someone and it just wasn't going according to plan.

"Nobody wanted to talk about it and there was an elephant in the room.

"I've never heard of the saying before until i did my writing camp for the album, its a very American saying so i thought why not be the first person to bring it over there and make it into a song?"

Uh, Alexandra, you do know people have been saying 'elephant in the room' for years, right?

But Alexandra isn't the only Strictly star to have appeared in some awkward throwback footage.

The Saturdays star Mollie King was also the subject of internet chit-chat, after footage of her 'cringe' X Factor auditions surfaced...

Appearing in front of the judges, then 18-year-old Mollie revealed she'd be attempting to sing Etta James' 'I Just Wanna Make Love To You.'

However, Sharon appear less than impressed, stating: " "I think you're dressed totally inappropriately." Ouch.

However, Simon said: "That didn't bother me too much," which had Louis in stitches.

Mollie left, changed her outfit and came back to sing a Christina Aguilera song.

Is it just me who thinks it's completely ridiculous to say that they don't like her outfit and make her go and change?! Her outfit was fine, SMH.

Well anyway, it didn't matter because the trio of judges said that she should come back when she's older. To be completely fair to her, she did come back as part of a girl band called Fallen Angelz.
