Crime documentaries have become more popular than ever before, and thanks to services like Netflix, we have access to more topics, people and stories than ever before.

If crime is your thing and you've already rinsed through Making A Murderer, Amanda Knox and Badlands, Texas, one of the streaming giant's latest additions could fill the hole in your life.

Mommy Dead and Dearest tells the story of Dee Dee and Gypsy Rose Blanchard, mother and daughter who lived in Missouri, and whose story rose gained popularity after Buzzfeed reported on the story.

It seemed that Gypsy was very sick, in fact she had every illness under the sun, according to her mother. Epilepsy, paralysis, leukemia and she also was unable to walk for herself, so had a wheelchair.

But you see, Gypsy wasn't sick. Her mother Dee Dee was abusing her via Munchausen by proxy, a mental illness which leads caregivers to invent or exaggerate symptoms for those in their care.

Gypsy became aware that she actually wasn't unwell, and together with her secret boyfriend, plotted to remove her mother from their lives.

The documentary aired on HBO earlier this week, and the reactions have been overwhelming.

The title isn't currently on Netflix, but it is available to watch on HBO.
