Like most parents with three children under four, McFly's Tom Fletcher has revealed that caring for his youngest son, Max, has left him exhausted.

The All About You singer even took to his Instagram to joke that he almost mixed up his newborn son with a plastic baby doll.

Tom shared a snap of him slouched on an arm chair cradling both Max, who was born last month, and the plastic doll.

In the caption he joked: "I'm so tired I couldn't tell the difference. Thought I'd play it safe. Now I have 2 babies. Father of 4?!"

While we're sure Tom was just having a laugh, parents rushed to the comments section to relate to the dad's tiredness.

One follower simply put: "God I remember that feeling," while another added: "Haha love it - lack of sleep gets you like that! Xx"

A third empathised: "I remember this feeling! Mother of 5 all under the age of 9!"

Another follower was even confused at the picture, commenting: "Lol I did have a 2nd glance there Tom wondered who had the other baby."

This isn't the first time Tom has complained of exhaustion since Max came into the world, as he recently shared a picture to his Instagram story revealing he had been up for an hour and a half, despite the picture noting it was only 6.34am.

Tom and Giovanna Fletcher were already proud parents to Buzz, 4, and Buddy, 2, before welcoming Max into the world last month.

In true Tom Fletcher-style, the 33-year-old took to Instagram to pay tribute to his wife for going through labour with "no drugs or pain relief."

"I would like to take this moment to say how in absolute awe I am of @mrsgifletcher. I've witnessed her go through labour and give birth three times now and all three have been different but equally special experiences," he wrote.

"She once again used hypnobirthing and had no drugs or pain relief, just breathing and relaxation techniques. It is truly incredible to watch!

"She is the most focused, strong, determined woman I've ever met and our boys are the luckiest kids on the planet to be able to call her Mum.

"To all the mums out there, no matter which way you brought your child into the world, whether you had no pain relief or all the drugs in the world, pool birth or c-section, what you can do with your body is an absolute miracle! You're awesome!

"So, well done honey and thank you honey for squeezing another human out of your body while I watched and ate Jelly Babies. X"
