Stephen Mulhern In Unlucky C-Word Gaffe On 'Saturday Night Takeaway'

Stephen Mulhern In Unlucky C-Word Gaffe On 'Saturday Night Takeaway'

Saturday Night Takeaway's Stephen Mulhern was left laughing last night after he was inadvertently called a rude name by a man waving a placard behind him on the show.

The presenter, who was appearing on the program in Florida, had just learned that his SNT segment In For A Penny would be getting a spin-off on ITV when a man with an 'In For A Cent' placard began dancing around on set behind him.

However, as the man moved the sign around, the letter 'E' was obscured by Mulhern's head, making it look as if the sign actually said...well, you can probably work it out.

Can you spot it?

Luckily, the presented took the whole thing in good humour, even sharing a photo of the mishap on Instagram, captioning the incident: "I'm saying nothing!!!"

He added: "What are the chances? ...seriously unbelievable!"

It all happened after solo host Dec Donnelly led a sketch where he received a phone call from the head of ITV and revealed that Mulhern would be getting his own show.

At first it was assumed to be a joke, but ITV have since confirmed that the show will actually be made, saying: "In For A Penny has been commissioned for a series on ITV, hosted by Stephen Mulhern."

With the absence of Ant McPartlin in the wake of a drink-driving scandal, Stephen Mulhern and Scarlett Moffatt have both stepped up to assume more responsibility as co-hosts alongside Dec.

Along with that has come more games, and a shake-up of 'Ant vs. Dec' into 'Dec v.s Stephen vs. Scarlett'.

'In For A Penny' is one game that Mulhern has been running for a while, in which he finds members of the public who happen to have a penny on their person, and gets them to complete a series of tasks to multiply their money.

The latest edition of SNT was filmed in Florida, and many viewers couldn't seem to divert their attention away from the presenter's bizarre American accent.

Many fans of the show took to Twitter to say that Mulhern's strange vocalisations had actually been enough to make them change the channel.

But viewers won't have to put up with it any longer as last night's episode marked the end of the series - we'd like to think that when the cheery presenter's show hits TV screens in its own right, the American accent will be long gone.
