Roxanne Pallett has broken her silence two days after she quit Celebrity Big Brother, admitting that she 'got it wrong' about accusing co-star Ryan Thomas of 'punching' her repeatedly in the ribs.

Appearing on The Jeremy Vine Show on Monday morning, Roxanne revealed that after watching the footage of the play fight back at home, she has changed her outlook on it all.

Roxanne initially asked for Ryan to be removed from the house, and he received a formal warning from Big Brother. He has been visibly distraught since the play fight.

"At the time it hurt but when I look back on it, I got it wrong. I really got it wrong," Roxanne explained on Jeremy Vine.

"Everything in that house becomes heightened, a look, an action, a comment. All I can say is in the moment, it felt worse than it was. It was the word 'deliberately' that I regret, massively."

The former Emmerdale actress also apologised to Ryan and his family and friends, who have been devastated by the accusations, as well as the public.

Roxanne continued: "I massively apologise to not only Ryan, but his friends, his family, his fans, every single person who watched that and who justifiably saw an overreaction to what wasn't a malicious act. Because I am sensitive, I mistook what was playful.

"There was no malicious intention behind that, and that is what I apologise for because I shouldn't have questioned his motivation. I got it wrong."

The soap actress also discussed her own experience of domestic abuse, saying that she would be 'devastated' and 'mortified' if anyone felt she had 'discredited or undermined abuse'.

Roxanne has deleted her social media accounts, and explained that she needed to 'take a step back' and investigate her personality in more depth following the row.

The actress added that she was not being paid to appear on The Jeremy Vine Show, and was instead there to acknowledge she'd made a mistake.

"I'm not being paid for this interview. It's been the hardest thing I've ever had to do, coming here today. This is my reality now. I'm here to acknowledge a mistake," she said.

"I hope that people can forgive me and I hope that Ryan can forgive me in time."

Roxanne is reportedly set to have her CBB exit interview with Emma Willis on Monday evening, where she is expected to address the punching row again.
