Miley Cyrus has opened up about her break up from husband Liam Hemsworth for the first time - and it hit us right in the feels.

The 'Slide Away' singer, 29, who grew up in the public eye thanks to her Disney stardom, has been at the centre of scandalous headlines galore since she and Liam parted ways recently, with the latest salacious accusation being that she cheated on the Australian actor.

The rumour mill started spinning after the pansexual singer was spotted locking lips with newly single Kaitlynn Carter on holiday the very same day her split hit the news.

But as speculation grew, Miley wasn't having any of it, and swiftly took to social media to silence critics in the most mature way possible.

While it's being widely reported that she went on a 'rant' on Tuesday night, the content of her lengthy statement wasn't angry of bitter, it was surprisingly understanding despite the accusations against her.

She wrote: "I can accept that the life I've chosen means I must live completely open and transparent with my fans who I love, and the public, 100% of the time.

"What I cannot accept is being told I'm lying to cover up a crime I haven't committed. I have nothing to hide."

Miley went on to list a string of mistakes she believed she had made in the past, like experimenting with drugs, "[cheating] in relationship when I was young" and "[swinging] on a wrecking ball naked".

However, she went on to claim that despite her previous mistakes, she wasn't at fault.

"The truth is, once Liam & I reconciled, I meant it, & I was committed. There are NO secrets to uncover here," she said.

"I've learned from every experience in my life. I'm not perfect, I don't want to be, it's boring. I've grown up in front of you, but the bottom line is, I HAVE GROWN UP.

"I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade.

"I've said it before & it remains true, I love Liam and always will."

Miley ended the post by telling fans she is now the happiest she's ever been, and adding that she might be a "twerking, pot-smoking, foul mouthed hillbilly," but she certainly isn't a liar.

You tell em, Miley. Some might call that a rant, but to us it looks like a plea for a bit more compassion. Everyone was young once, after all.
