Malin Andersson wrote a heartbreaking letter for what would have been her first Mother's Day with daughter Consy.

The 26-year-old, who tragically lost her baby girl in January this year, describes how difficult Mothering Sunday can be for those living with grief.

"So as Mother's Day approaches, (and by gosh, you will definitely know its approaching; from every commercial, email, flowers shops, supermarkets - every single one being a painful trigger, reminders of a relationship that you no longer have) I often get asked, what are you doing this year for Mother's Day?" she wrote in the letter published on OK! Online.

"Awkwardly, I giggle a bit and say, my mother died from cancer a year ago."

Malin's mum, Consy, died from skin cancer in November 2017.

"In an ideal world I should be celebrating Sunday with my mum," Malin explained, adding how she also wished her baby girl could be there "giving her grandma a huge cuddle".

Malin's four-week-old baby, named after her grandmother, died earlier this year, after being born prematurely in December last year.

In the devastating letter, Malin revealed how discovering she was pregnant made her think "how much joy my daughter would bring me; my very own family, a new purpose and something to live for after mum dying."

She touches on what a detrimental effect losing both her mum and her daughter has had on her life, writing "I don't really cope, I just live through the day waiting for it to turn midnight."

"Just like me, I know there are other mothers who will be facing darkness on Mothering Sunday. Women are out there feeling alone. I salute anyone that has lost their mother, or daughter.

"Just remember that you are never alone, someone else out there is going through exactly the same thing," she continued.

"Take comfort knowing that your beautiful mother/daughter is truly an angel here on this earth."
