One of Love Island 2018's last remaining couples, Adam Collard and Zara McDermott, have had their say on whether Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham's brief split was genuine.

Dani recently took to Instagram to say she and Jack had called time on their relationship, before insisting they were still together and she was just acting like 'normal girl'.

But the break-up, however brief, has raised questions about their relationship, with some people even claiming they were told to get back together in time for Love Island: The Christmas Reunion, which is due to air tonight.

This morning, Zara and Adam appeared on ITV's Lorraine to talk about the drama that will come in the reunion.

Lorraine asked: "Now what about Dani and Jack, because they won and were the great love story and all that, and then they split, and then they're back again."

Adam responded: "We've tried to be as supportive of possible. We've also had a little bit of a patch, where we said that no one can know apart from them exactly what it is, so what do you say?"

Defending the 2018 champions, Zara added: "The reason why the public fell in love with them is because they're so genuine and I think you can't fall in love with someone because they're genuine and then all of a sudden there's stories that they're not.

"I think they are two of the most genuine people we know and there's no way that you could ever stay in a relationship that you're not happy in, and I would never for a second think that they've got back together for that reason."

She continued: "They've got to live together and pay their bills together and it's a normal relationship like anyone else's and I think that gets forgotten a bit."

Love Island: The Christmas Reunion airs on ITV2 at 9pm tonight.
