Little Mix popstar Jesy Nelson took on Ginger Spice's most iconic looks at the weekend, and it was truly amazing.

The singer decided to dress up as Geri Halliwell in her famous Union Jack dress for Jade Thirlwall's birthday party, complete with an auburn wig with blonde streaks at the front.

Taking to Instagram, Jesy posted a series of images of herself wearing her Union Jack dress, which she also paired with black boots and red lippy.

And explaining the inspiration behind the outfit, Jesy shared: "So, since I was five years old all I've ever wanted to be was Ginger Spice. She was my ultimate idol because she was bold, fearless and the ultimate girl power pin up.

"My mum took me to Romford Market to get a Union Jack dress but they'd all sold out so I cried the whole way home. Well tonight Matthew, I am Ginger Spice."

In another post, Jesy winked at the camera while making a peace sign with her fingers in true Spice Girl style. She wrote: "@therealgerihalliwell it's a dream come true being you tonight."

Fans went wild for the dress, with one writing: "If possible you just out Geri'd Geri."

"It's 1997, all over again!" exclaimed another.

Fellow bandmate Jade had opted for an icon-themed birthday party to celebrate her 26th birthday, which saw the Little Mix stars and their friends all dress up in amazing costumes.

Leigh-Anne Pinnock opted to pay homage to the legend that is Rihanna, and birthday girl Jade went all out for her outfit for the night, channelling her inner Diana Ross in an extravagant, frilly red dress.

Geri decided to auction off the original Union Jack dress just a year after wearing it to the 1997 Brit Awards.

It fetched £41,300 at Sotheby's auction in London, and was purchased by Peter Morton as a piece of pop memorabilia to be displayed at the Hard Rock Café in Las Vegas.

Geri gave all the proceeds to a children's cancer charity at the time.
