Kaley Cuoco has shared a snap of herself overcome with emotion after running through the script for the final episode ever of The Big Bang Theory.

In the Instagram post, the actress - who has appeared in all 12 seasons of the sitcom as character Penny - can be seen bursting into tears as she clutches the script papers in her arms.

"Post table read for @bigbangtheory_cbs finale episode," Kaley captioned the picture, which was met with over 650,000 likes.

In a second picture, Kaley shared another picture of the script covered with tissues used to dry her tears.

"Prepare yourselves ... for a finale that has truly given me a loss for words. Our whole universe," she added.

Kaley was sure not to reveal any spoilers by carefully making sure the text was covered with the tissues and stationery.

The final episode ever of The Big Bang Theory, which first aired in 2007, will hit screens next month.

Fans were quick to send Kaley some support, including actress Courteney Cox who drew on her own experience of Friends coming to an end way back in 2004.

Courteney, who played Monica Geller in the sitcom, shared: "Awww I remember that feeling... and you guys have been together even longer," adding sad crying emojis to her comment.

And a fan wrote: "Thank you for making us laugh. This is heartbreaking."

"I'm hoping for a bazinga at the end of the last episode... saying you'll be back for two more seasons," wished somebody else.

While a third of Kaley's 5.2 million followers offered: "I am going to miss this show and cast very much. Thank you for being a part of whole "Big Deal"."

"Why does everything good have to come to an end?" questioned a final.
