TV presenter and celebrity chef Gizzi Erskine has shared a powerful and relatable message on her Instagram page, opening up on her weight gain and body confidence to her fans.

Posting a selfie to her 147k followers, the author explained that her body positivity was at an all time low, meaning she'd pulled out of attending the GQ Awards on Wednesday night last minute.

In a candid post, Gizzi penned: "I was meant to go to the GQ awards last night but I didn't go because none of the really stunning clothes that were sent for me fit. It's pretty devastating. There were tears.

"This isn't a knock at the fashion industry or anyone actually. I had put on 3 stone. Ive gone up from a 10 to a 14. I've been working very very hard to lose the weight [sic]."

Thanking the continuing support from her fans, the celeb chef continued: "You lot have been incredible and so kind to me in the process and I'm grateful to all of you for this. I'm all about body positivity, but the truth is I just don't feel myself.

"This is not conditioning of the media on me. It's me having been in and around the same weight pretty much all my life and 3 stone is a lot of weight. This would have been the first event I'd been to at this weight.

"Even if I could get into the dresses I liked I felt so gross."

But despite her emotions the night before, Gizzi seemed to have a change of heart the morning after, wishing that she had attended the awards ceremony after all to 'empower' other women, but she felt conflicted at the time.

"I should have gone. I feel so conflicted because I want to be one of those women that empowers other women, but I also was consumed with a monumental amount of self loathing," explained Gizzi.

"I don't even know why I'm telling you this to be honest. Maybe simply to show that it happens to us all."

TV and radio personality Zoe Ball replied: "Darling girl. Don't feel alone in this. I've gained weight this year too and am trying to jumpstart myself in to a new regime. You're beautiful beyond what size you are. All the love."

"Thank you for sharing. I have gained the same amount too and feel just the same," shared another of Gizzi's fans.
