Britney Spears is already a pop music icon, and it looks like she's set to conquer the world of Broadway music too, as it's revealed she's getting her own musical.

The Toxic singer is set to get her own show which will debut in Chicago before heading to Broadway in New York, Pink News reports.

Britney's musical, titled Once Upon A One More Time, will feature many of her iconic songs as the story follows a book club whose members are all princesses.

A press release on Britney's website hinted at show in a cryptic message that read: "Set to the songs of Britney Spears, the Princess of Pop herself, Once Upon A One More Time is an uproarious, irreverent look at the towering challenges, charms and choices involved in finding that most elusive of endings: Happily Ever After."

We're not entirely sure what the plot has got to do with Britney, but we're absolutely in favour of it.

The pop idol is said to be pretty pleased with the musical and we can't say we'd complain if someone dedicated an entire Broadway show to us.

She told the Guardian: "I'm so excited to have a musical with my songs, especially one that takes place in such a magical world filled with characters that I grew up on, who I love and adore."

Back in January, Brit was forced to cancel her Las Vegas residency after he father fell ill, telling her fans she Sin City shows were 'put on hold' until further notice so she could put her 'family first.'

"I don't even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination," she told fans. "I've been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart.

"However, it's important to always put your family first... and that's the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We're all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him."

We'll be keeping our eyes firmly peeled for details on the musical.
