A Harry Potter fan has rewritten the story so that the young wizard's owl, Hedwig, doesn't die in the Deathly Hallows.
J.K. Rowling's decision to kill-off Harry's loyal pet divided fans (don't even get us started on Dobby), and it seems like we still aren't over it over a decade on.
The beautiful bird was killed while trying to protect Harry and Hagrid from Lord Voldemort's Death Eaters, and she was hit by a killing curse.
It appears as if the books' author still feels bad about it too, as she tweeted earlier this month about the guilt she still holds. She tweeted: "I've never felt worse about that thing I did to Hedwig."

Thankfully, someone has edited the book so we don't have to endure the owl's untimely/completely unnecessary death.
Instead of poor little Hedwig being hit with a stray avada kedavra curse and being killed, the book now reads:
'The owl screeched and fell to the floor of the cage. "No - NO!" The motorbike zoomed forward; Harry glimpsed hooded Death Eaters scattering as Hagrid blasted through their circle. "Hedwig - Hedwig -".

'But the owl lay motionless... for only a few seconds. Then she stirred and popped to her feet, ruffling her feathers. After exiting the damaged cage, she gave Harry a reproachful look that he took to mean "I'm going to fly off somewhere safe and lay low until this nonsense is over".'
All other references to Hedwig being 'dead' in the book were changed to 'away' too.
The extract was shared on Mugglenet's Facebook page over the weekend, with requests flooding in from other heartbroken Potter-heads requesting their favourite characters were brought back to life too.
"Please tell me someone has done the same for poor Dobby," begged one person.

And another pleaded: "Now can we just do this for Fred and Sirius."
Other fans of the franchise began rewriting other death scenes, including Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks.
Whether J.K. Rowling will approve of these edits remains to be seen, but at least we can all sleep better at night knowing Hedwig is still alive and flapping.
