Apparently We've Been Pronouncing Roald Dahl's Name Wrong All This Time
Roald Dahl has been an important figure in fiction throughout our lives. Many of us would have read his books in our early childhood, and for some of us it may have been our first introduction to the wonderful world of imagination.
While we could chat forever about his talent and contribution to the world, what we're focussing on today is his name - Roald Dahl. Pretty simple, right? Well if like us you've always said "Rolled Darl", you might be surprised to know that it just ain't right!
It turns out that it should actually be pronounced "Roo-ald", as we can hear at the start of an episode of his 1961 sci-fi show. The gang over at Marie Claire made the discovery, and our minds are blown...
Apparently, his parents were Norwegian, so that's the correct saying. Who knew?!
