First Dates Is Looking For 'Background Daters' To Munch On £25 Of Free Food

Dating is an absolute nightmare, isn't it? Whether you're looking for the love of your life on a dating app or in a more conventional way (like getting your snazziest PJs on for the ASDA run and hoping you'll bump into Ruben Loftus-Cheek), there's no doubt that you'll have to go through the same old interview process.

Sitting down in front of someone new can often feel like you're trying out for a job, and if you ask me, ain't nobody got time for that.

Why are you single? Probably for the same reason as anybody else.

How many people have you slept with? Jog on, pal.

What's your favourite position? The one where I sprint out the door never to be seen again, if you carry on at this rate.

Luckily, the team behind First Dates is on hand to make those encounters slightly more bearable, as they're on the lookout for people to star on the show as 'background daters'...and they'll pay for (at least some of) your food for the pleasure.

But before you start running for the hills at he thought of having to face all the one-to-one grilling in front of a camera for your mum, your nan, and your nan's next door neighbour's dog to watch, you can calm yourself, because none of that's going to happen.

Being a background dater basically means that you get given £25 to enjoy some food and look like you're having a grand old time with someone else. Oh, and you might also get to eye up Fred Sirieix for a solid couple of hours.

The casting call was posted on Facebook, with an advert which reads: "First Dates are looking for couples to enjoy a date in the background of the First Dates restaurant across various dates in August.

"You and your date receive £25 contribution towards the cost of your meal. "

If this tickles your pickle, all you need to do is email

What are you waiting for, background people? THERE'S £25 OF FREE FOOD, GET GOING.
