Two dog groomers have recreated the Nativity scene using their nine best canine clients and the results are adorably festive.

The alternative Christmas scene contains a mix of spaniels, collies and a bichon frise and it is definitely the cutest way to celebrate Christmas.

Groomers, Joanna and Toby Kingston, decided to throw themselves into the festive celebrations this year at their grooming salon Wags to Riches.

They used nine of their best clients to create the scene with Barney the cockerpoo puppy taking centre stage as baby Jesus.

Despite the pictures looking relatively calm and serene, Joanna explained that she only had half-an-hour to get the end result.

Joanna also had to battle to keep the attention of the adorable dogs and joked that a lot of ham and cheese was needed to bribe them.

She said: "The pictures came out perfectly, and we think they really depict the Nativity scene well and in a funny way.

"We just used objects that were lying around to create the 'Wise Men', by using blankets and towels for their cloaks, and ordered a couple of objects to make it that bit more accurate.

"We bought the King's hat online for £6, and we luckily had a lot of the other bits lying around.

"The main struggle was trying to keep the dogs' attention and not have them distracting each other, so I only had about 30 minutes to do this.

"I had to use a lot of ham and cheese as rewards and to keep them occupied - but I think they look like great models."

Despite being pessimistic about how the photos would turn out, Joanne explains that both herself and her clients were thrilled with the photos.

She said: "We had a great response to the photo of the dogs - everyone thinks it's amazing how similar it looks.

"I think as well, everyone just can't help but talk about how cute it is because the pooches look adorable.

"We made sure we gave the dogs a lot of fuss after taking the photo, but they were happy posing and wearing their costumes.

"It was a great way for us to all get in the Christmas spirit in our own unique way!"
