All she had to pay for was a £3.50 hexagon-shaped box and some wallpaper paste.

If you think a home makeover has to set you back six months' salary then think again - one woman created an amazing feature wall using just wallpaper samples and she's shared how she did it to inspire us mere mortals.

Not all heroes wear capes.

Michelle Anderson, 39, from Chester, first saw the idea on a DIY page on Facebook and instantly fell in love. "I was looking for something different for my bedroom feature wall and I just had to try it," she told PRETTY 52.

The mum-of-three wanted to transform her bedroom feature wall, so she went around all her local DIY stores and took samples of wallpapers that she liked.

She then bought a cardboard hexagon-shaped box from Hobbycraft for just £3.50 and used the lid to trace around, picking certain patterns or parts of the samples that she liked.

"It took me about four days to cut them out - a few hours each day," she said. "I painted the wall white then started attaching the hexagons using blue tac so I could position them right and decide which ones looked better next to each other. It took about six hours in total to blue tac them."

Michelle continued: "Once I had them right and liked how I had done it, I took each one off individually, pasted with wallpaper paste then reattached to the wall, which again took about six hours. The white gaps are the painted wall behind and I used my eye and judgement to get the gaps. There's probably about £100 worth of wallpaper on the wall."

The kitchen assistant posted the pictures to the Extreme Budget DIY & Life Hacks page on Facebook, and people are absolutely loving her work.

"Woop woop. You are a DIY goddess!" said one follower, while another said: "You deserve the accolade...your precision with the hexagons is a piece of artwork in itself! Congratulations."

"Wow that feature wall is incredible! So straight and precise can tell you put a lot of work into that. Bet you're proud of that :) all looks excellent," said another.

We're definitely going to be trying this out!
