I've always felt a bit awkward at yoga classes, all those bendy people doing deep breathing in very little clothing. Wouldn't it be more fun if we were all a bit tipsy? Well now you can be - beer yoga has arrived in the UK!
The idea originated at Burning Man festival, which is where beer-loving yogis Emily and Jhula were inspired to start Bieryoga back home in Berlin.
They describe the practice on their website as "the marriage of two great loves - beer and yoga. Both are centuries-old therapies for body, mind and soul.
It continues: "The joy of drinking beer and the mindfulness of yoga compliment each other, and make for an energising experience."
The trend has gone global, from Australia to Thailand, and has finally made its way to a London pub where you can do an hour-long class, beer and yoga mat included, for £12.
She told PRETTY 52: "A colleague of mine and I wanted to do something fun after work. I like to go to a yoga studio after work and my colleague wanted to go to a pub for a beer. We thought: 'Why not combine both?' and this is how we started beer yoga classes."
Beer yoga takes the seriousness out of traditional yoga, making things more social and fun.
Guzel said: "We had [an] overwhelmingly positive experience, great feedback and a lot of smiling faces. It is always funny when people take their first sip of the beer or when they try to balance the beer bottle on top of their head."
Yup. They actually do that.
