Rum has had a bit of an image problem lately: Jack Sparrow, regrettable Caribbean punch and cola mixers spring to mind.
But it's time to get on board because, just in case you haven't heard: rum is the new gin and G&T isn't cool anymore.
But if the mere thought of rum puts hairs on your chest or evokes PTSD flashbacks of a near-death experience in your late teens know this: you probably haven't tried the right one yet. But there's a new rum brand that could change your mind - and it has notes of hazelnut, vanilla and chocolate. Now that should whet your appetite and/or whistle for information.

Belgrove is a single-origin demerara rum created by Edmund WoodIts. It's infused with notes of toasted hazelnut as the predominant flavour, accompanied by a touch of Madagascan vanilla and undertones of chocolate. It's rum, but not as you know it.
Enjoy it on the rocks, in an Espresso Martini, or, if you must, with a coke or ginger ale if you're feeling basic and a little bit hesitant about throwing a new spirit into the mix.
"Belgrove has been a labour of love for us. We've been dedicated to creating an innovative, authentic, contemporary rum and I am delighted to be introducing Belgrove to cocktail fans everywhere," explained founder, Edmund.
Already available in some bars, it will soon be available on Amazon and Masters of Malt - so keep your eyes peeled. Visit the Belgrove website for more information.

At £37 for 70cl or £14 for their cute 20cl it's a luxury, but well worth it.
If hazelnut rum isn't for you, then M&S is selling a rum-based pre-mixed Be My Valentini cocktail for Valentine's Day.
Valentini is made from cranberry juice, lime and orange peel combined with the premium quality rum, and it's just £10.
