In news that's guaranteed to make your week, a Friends musical is coming to the UK this summer - and it sounds amazing.

Described as a 'loving parody' of the hit Warner Bros. series, the show will revolve around the same much-loved characters played by a brand new (obviously) cast as they go about their everyday lives in late-nineties Manhattan.

Kicking off in July, followed by a full season at the Edinburgh Fringe in August, the tongue-in-cheek Friendsical UK Tour will play a host of UK venues including Newcastle, Blackpool and Croydon.

According to the show's synopsis, it begins when Ross' wife leaves him for another woman (sound familiar?) echoing the plotline in season one.

It continues: "But then Rachel runs back into his life... will he end up with his one true love?

"Featuring original songs such as '(He's her) Lobster!', 'Richard's Moustache' and 'You're Over Me? When Were You Under Me?', the gang take on naked Thursdays, a power cut, and a dinosaur convention."

The musical will make its debut in Cheltemham's Everyman Theatre on 15th July, and travel around the UK for a limited run before moving to Edinburgh.

It's written by director and die-hard Friends fan Miranda Larson, who has worked on shows including Tom Fletcher's Christmasaurus for the Hammersmith Apollo.

Following the tangled lives of Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler and Ross, Friends ran over ten seasons ending in May 2004, and has since earned a place as one of the most popular TV series of all time.

It's not the first time our favourite sitcom has come to the stage; in 2017 New York City played host to off-Broadway production Friends! The Musical.
